Description
We are seeking a highly organized and analytical Dispatcher to coordinate daily vessel and shuttle operational planning. This role is responsible for efficiently scheduling boats and vans based on real-time passenger demand, future bookings, and historical trends. The Dispatcher plays a critical role in ensuring optimal resource utilization, maintaining service reliability, and supporting a seamless passenger experience across all touchpoints.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and dispatch vessel and shuttle operations based on current bookings, forecasts, and operational needs
- Analyze historical data and booking trends to anticipate demand and adjust scheduling proactively
- Assign appropriate vessel sizes to routes to maximize efficiency while avoiding under- or over-utilization
- Coordinate shuttle transportation within Belize City for passenger transfers and staff-related movements
- Monitor daily operations and make real-time adjustments to schedules as conditions change
- Work closely with ticketing, check-in, and seaside operations teams to manage passenger flow and special cases
- Handle irregular operations, including delays, weather disruptions, and last-minute booking changes
- Ensure effective communication between dispatch, captains, drivers, and operations staff
- Maintain accurate logs and reports on dispatch activities and resource usage
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs
Work Environment- Fast-paced, operations-focused environment
- Requires constant communication with multiple departments
- May involve both office-based coordination and on-the-ground operational support
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Preferred experience in transportation, logistics, operations planning, or a related field
- Previous dispatching or scheduling experience is highly desirable
- Experience working with data analysis, forecasting, or resource planning is an asset
Skills & Competencies- Excellent computer & technology comfort level; all systems and virtually all communication is electronic
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interpret booking data and identify trends
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Ability to make decisions quickly in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with computers and scheduling or dispatch software
- Attention to detail with a focus on accuracy
Additional Requirements- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
- Familiarity with marine or transportation operations is a plus
- Valid Driver's License
- Knowledge of Belize City geography is an advantage

Hours
- Operations run 365 days per year, and this role carries daily operational responsibility
- Core business hours are typically 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM; however, scheduling flexibility is required based on passenger demand, special requests, and operational needs
- With proper planning, training, and delegation, the Dispatcher may establish coverage through trained support staff or assistants
- Remote work is possible when operations are well-prepared and adequately managed
- Availability to respond to urgent or time-sensitive situations outside of standard hours may occasionally be required
